It’s my favourite time of the year. Christmas and party season! I mean who doesn’t like an occasion to get dressed up and sip on a vino, champers or cocktail - maybe two!
But I know for a lot of you the “getting dress-ed” part can come with some added “what to wear” stress - especially if you have multiple parties and limited budget, or need to go from the office to party mode in a jiffy.
With this mind, I have curated 27 dresses (and not of the Bridesmaid variety!) just perfect for the party season. I have selected a good cross-section of styles, colours and silhouettes that will fit a range of possible party scenarios, form a fancy cocktail party to a fun lunchtime bbq.
Obviously given my profession as a stylist, I really do enjoy shopping, and in fact I brought my party dress while curating this list. I had been looking for the perfect new dress for a few months, and this one by Alice McCall was the first one that caught my eye. However, I kept looking and then came back to it during the Black Friday sales. It was the best one for me and my style. I tend to gravitate to classic colours with standout details - and this one hit the mark.
I have become more and more conscious of shopping with intention to avoid impulse buying and give the same advice to my clients too.
I am not saying don’t shop, I am just saying see how much better it feels when you make considered purchases. Here’s what I always ask myself before I add to cart.
Do I really, really love it? Don’t just settle. I always think it’s better to buy the one you really love (if you can afford it!) rather than settling for mediocre. It will just be a waste of money in the end as you probably won;t love it enough to wear it again.
What else can I wear this with? I always suggest to think of at least 3 other things you own that you can wear it with - especially if you are paying good money for it.
Is it versatile? Ie. can i wear it beyond the occasion i am buying it for? Can it work for summer and winter with a few styling tweaks?
Now that we have that covered! Here’s My 27 Days Of Party Dresses!
